Robert - I am very sorry to have mislead you and others on the forum! I couldn't lay my hands on the statement last night, and "remembered" the wrong column! The 144KWH was my highest DAY'S useage in the last three years! My highest monthly useage in the last three years was 4320 KWH, with 3750 KWH being the next highest monthly useage. My average lowest monthly power consumption occurs in June/August, with around 1710 KWH consumption, almost no heat pump useage, so one could subtract that from the highest figure to get the highest heat pump useage of 2610 KWH - that number would also include the cost of resistance heating in the motorhome, etc. but be close enough for comparison purposes. I have a three story plus basement 120 year old house with NO insulation. It is on the National Register of Historic Places (Albert E. Green House) The house has a very high and steep hill just to the southwest, so I get no sun in the wintertime until around 10:30 AM. Fortunately, I also get almost no wind.
Again, sorry to have posted incorrect info!

This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project.
