Re: Desuperheaters /Boilers/Solar [ Read Responses | Return to the Index ]
Posted by Robert Gammon on Saturday, 26 April 2008, at 10:19 a.m., I started using Boilers as these tanks are most frequently used to generate DHW with oil/gas fired boilers for residential heating purposes. However, internal construction is very very similar to tanks used with Solar hot water. Solar generally uses two coils, not tank within tank designs. Tank within tank seems to be relatively new. It offers 2x to 2.5x MORE plate area for heat transfer than the coil based tanks. I have not done detailed comparisons at this level, but I suspect that the psi loss thru the nested tanks is lower than that for coil based systems.

This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project. |
