Re: geothermal heating/radiant flooring/domestic hot water [ Read Responses | Return to the Index ]
Posted by Phil on Friday, 2 May 2008, at 5:26 p.m., Actually, a w-w heat pump can heat and cool quite effectively if the hot/cold water is directed to air coils. So, for heating you can direct hot water to the floor.
This air cooling method can be very effective in zoned systems where a small aircoil and fan is located in each zone, then you just need to plumb water pipes to each zone's air handler. This method replaces zoned ductwork (and damper valves) with copper water pipes. Phil. Responses
This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project. |
