Posted by Richard Wooldridge on Friday, 2 May 2008, at 7:38 p.m., Sorry, Robert, the air coil works EXTREMELY well, and is in use in many, many hotels and commercial buildings all over the world! The idea of cooling via the floor slab will not work well at all in warm climates, due to lack of air flow and stratification of the air - the cool floor doesn't cool the hot air above it at all. This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project. |
