Posted by Bob on Friday, 2 May 2008, at 11:54 p.m., Richard is correct. This is what is called 'chilled' water. Robert some mfg make dual compressor GSHP were one compressor can be in the heat cycle and the other compressor can be running in the cooling cycle. Also there are some single compressor 'combination' GSHP units such as Hydron Module were there can be a refrigerant-air coil and a refrigerant-water heat exchangers. A switching valve is used to divert the refrigerant to either heat exchanger. The refrigerant-water heat exchanger could be used for DHW or small radiant floor loop while the refrigerant-air heat exchanger is used for force air heating/cooling. With this setup, the GSHP can produce 100% of the DHW through both the spring and fall.

This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project. |
