Re: Temp sensors [ Read Responses | Post a New Response | Return to the Index ]
Posted by Bill on Monday, 5 May 2008, at 1:26 p.m., I know that the sensors work fine with the WEL up to at least 60 - 70 °C, as I have one of my WEL sensors installed on a pipe that periodically gets very hot. I use this sensor as my 'on/off' sensor for a gas-fired hot water heater. It's mounted on the gas exhaust pipe that exits through the roof. The sensor is WEL-scaled in °C, with a -50° offset factor. I use the 'zero transition' as the on/off indicator by having a WEL Expression 'GasOn = D04 > Zero', where D04 is the sensor with the -50° offset. Then, since GasOn is a binary zero or one value, to make it useful for charting purposes, I have another WEL Expression 'GasOnScaled = GasOn + Zero' with a 60 multiplication scale factor. An example chart is show below. In summary, up to at least about 70°C, the sensors are working just fine for me. Best regards, Bill

This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project. |
