Posted by Richard Wooldridge on Monday, 5 May 2008, at 5:35 p.m., Robert - you STILL have it wrong, although not as bad as your previous false assumptions. What Phil had in mind originally was to run the ground loop water through a copper coil mounted in the ductwork airflow, which would soon bring the air temps down close to the ground loop temperatures. Personally, I think this is a good idea, well worthy of a test run, as it would considerably reduce the cost of air conditioning in his home. (NO heat pump operation would be necessary, just the ground loop pumps and a couple of valves.) If you re-read Phil's pages carefully, without making any assumptions based on your previous experience or knowledge this should be clear to you.

This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project. |
