Re: COLDFLOW GEO HEAT PUMP [ Read Responses | Post a New Response | Return to the Index ]
Posted by Robert Gammon on Wednesday, 7 May 2008, at 12:13 p.m., One item to pay close attention to as well as the heat pump, is the ground loop that the heat pump attaches to. Horizontal pipe MUST be below the frost line in your area in order to keep loop temps near or above freezing in winter. Frozen soil conducts heat poorly. Next, folks who install MORE pipe than recommended in all climates, hot or cold, are far happier with their systems than those who install the minimum. 10% to 20% more.

This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project. |
