Re: Loss of temp sensors due lighting. [ Read Responses | Return to the Index ]
Posted by Bob on Monday, 29 June 2009, at 10:20 p.m., Thanks, Bill I had you in mind when this happened. Both of your suggestion I had already in place. The reason that the Inside and Outside Air Temp sensor was still functioning was because it home runs directly to the WEL. The T-Stat Monitor also connects directly to the WEL. All the other sensors passed through the T-Stat Monitor back to the WEL. I have a 50' buried CAT5 cable out to my ground loop temp sensor.
The interesting thing is that the two sensors mounted inside the Marathon (plastic) DHW tank are still working. I had originally bought 60 temperature sensors directly from Maxim-Dallas so I have spares on hand. Yesterday I edited the WEL configuration with the new device IDs. I checked out the 1-wire weather guys for 1-wire surge protection... h ttp://pond1.gladstonefamily.net:8080/surge-protection.html
Interested if this should help for the WEL 1-wire network? Well down to the basement to roll a few this evening. ;> Bob G.

This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project. |
