Re: Connect a Dual Counter to a WattNode [ Read Responses | Return to the Index ]
Posted by Phil on Wednesday, 13 January 2010, at 11:43 p.m., Hi Bill. I would shoot for a Max frequency of at least 200Hz, or more, to leave a margin for error. When I use this board I do several things: 1) I DO connect the +5V power to the board. The battery only serves to retain the pulse count when the WEL goes down, but this isn't actually required because the WEL simply looks at changes from one reading to the next. The first reading after a power up is saved, but not used to calculate power. 2) The original 1M resistors are chosen to enable the board to run off parasitic power, but for smaller resistors you really need to power the board (to prevent from overloading the 1-wire bus). In my case I use 1K Pull UP resistors (just because I prefer that convention) but 10K pull downs would be just fine, and give you ample frequency range. Responses
This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project. |
