At OurCoolHouse:  The RSS Feed (Podcast)

I invite people to call me and discuss my Energy Efficient home designs, but for some people that's just a bit too "personal". I feel the same way on other issues and I don't like to show my ignorance without first learning the basics.   So to help those people out, I've created a Podcast Feed of me discussing a selection of my most Frequently Asked Questions.

If you're into PodCasts, you can subscribe to this free feed by copying the URL associated with this icon that appears on all of my pages.

If you haven't discovered Podcasts yet then you should check out the technology.  It's a great source of cool info, and it's something you can use in your car on the way to work.

Check out [iPodder] for an explanation of the concept, or just download the Download iPodder, the cross-platform podcast receiver reader now.

If you're not ready to get into Podcasting yet, but you'd like to hear my ramblings anyway, you can download or stream my individual mp3 files directly from [Podcasting News], then play them on your PC, Mac or portable player.

The topics I've discussed so far are:

  • Earth Sheltering (Get mp3)
  • Passive Solar Design (Get mp3)
  • Geothermal Heating and Cooling (Get mp3)
  • Energy Recovery Ventilators (Both ERVs and HRVs) (Get mp3)
  • Radiant Heating (Get mp3)
Note: If you download them from here, I recommend you rightclick the link and do a Save Target As. Then once they are fully downloaded, you can play them without any annoying pauses.

This site is all about building a cool, energy efficient house, that makes maximum use of earth sheltered design, passive solar heating and cooling, geothermal exchange energy management, and right sizing of the house for it's designated use. The home's placement is on a south-facing hillside in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This site describes the design process, the technologies used and the expected results. We also have a comprehensive Links Page for anyone who is also interested in designing a similar project.
